Paragraph on "The Independence Day"

        India became free from the British rule on 15th August 1947. We celebrate our Independence Day on 15th August every year. It is our national festival. It is a public holiday. The Independence Day is celebrated with great joy. The Prime Minister unfurls the national flag from the Red Fort in Delhi. The national flag flutters atop government offices and buildings all over the country on that day. Schools and colleges also have flag-hoisting functions. Entertainment programmes and exhibitions are organised. The freedom fighters are remembered on this day. People celebrate by bursting crackers at night. All important buildings are decorated with colourful lights. There is a feeling of pride and patriotism all around.

        India got freedom from the British rule on 15th August 1947. It was a historic day for the Indians. For the first time, the Indian flag was unfurled at the Red Fort by our first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. Independence Day is celebrated all over India with great enthusiasm. Every year, our Prime Minister unfurls the Indian Tricolour at the Red Fort on this day. Our National Anthem is also sung on the occasion. This program is celebrated in all the states of India at the same time. In the states, the Chief Ministers hoist the flags. In Delhi, the capital of India, there is great hustle and bustle. People gather in large numbers at the Parade Grounds in front of the Red Fort. The Independence Day is a very important day for any Indian. This day reminds us of those who sacrificed their lives and everything else to win freedom for us. This day unites the countrymen into one nation that is India.
